Existence of free boundaries using the mean curvature

چکیده

This paper deals with a free boundary problem for both Laplacian and p-Laplacian operators. We begin by proving the existence of solution (which is of class C) for the associated shape optimization problem. Then, after performing the shape derivative we will present two approaches in order to get sufficient conditions of existence of the free boundaries. The first one needs the use of some maximum principle. The second one uses the monotonicity of the mean curvature and can be applied for general divergence operators. Application of surface-derived attributes in determining boundaries of potential-field sources

This paper describes an edge detection method based on surface-derived attributes. The surface-derived attributes are widely used in the interpretation ofseismic datain two main categories: (1) derivative attributes including the dip angle and the azimuth; (2) derivative attributes including curvature attributes.    In general, the magnitude of the normal curvature of a surface (curvature attri...

Neural Network Based Quality Increase Of Surface Roughness Results In Free Form Machining

This paper concerns with free form surface reorganization and assessment of free formmodel complexity, grouping particular surface geometrical properties within patch boundaries, using self organized Kohonen neural network (SOKN). Neural network proved itself as an adequate tool for considering all topological non-linearities appearing in free form surfaces. Coordinate values of point cloud dis...

A Two–Sided Contracting Stefan Problem

We study a novel two–sided Stefan problem – motivated by the study of certain 2D interfaces – in which boundaries at both sides of the sample encroach into the bulk with rate equal to the boundary value of the gradient. Here the density is in [0, 1] and takes the two extreme values at the two free boundaries. It is noted that the problem is borderline ill–posed: densities in excess of unity lia...

Theoretical, numerical, and experimental analyses of free vibrations of glass fiber reinforced polymer plates with central cutouts and free boundaries

This study explored the free vibration problem in relation to glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates with central cutouts and free boundaries using theoretical, experimental, and numerical methods. The theoretical formulations were derived from the classical lamination plate theory. The rectangular cutout was mathematically modeled into the stiffness matrix of the plate by multiplying Hea...

Subjective Surfaces and Riemannian Mean Curvature Flow of Graphs

A geometric model for segmentation of images with missing boundaries is presented. Some classical problems of boundary completion in cognitive images, like the pop up of subjective contours in the famous triangle of Kanizsa, are faced from a surface evolution point of view. The method is based on the mean curvature evolution of a graph with respect to the Riemannian metric induced by the image....
